A steroid molecule has 4 carbon containing rings. Three of these have 6 carbons in them and the last one has 5 carbons in it. The steroid nucleus can be found in many of the hormones the body manufactures.
Steroids are made of fat that is taken from cholesterol. It comes from the placenta, adrenal cortex and gonads.
